The TomTom Traffic Index has provided detailed information on traffic congestion levels in more than 400 cities around the world over the past 10 years.

According to the 2020 TomTom Traffic Index, BA’s traffic congestion levels in 2020 stood at 24%, representing a huge drop in congestion since 2019 and in comparison to other cities in the region, placing the city 57 points lower in the congestion ranking than in 2019.

The results demonstrate not only a strong compliance across the city with the quarantine and social distancing measures put in place at the onset of the Covid pandemic, but also the effect of new measures to encourage alternative forms of mobility, such as bicycles, e-scooters and pedestrian travel.
